How Many Calories You Should Have per Day?

The above question really bothers me these days. It started when the restaurant that we usually go to, started to display how many calories that we gain by eating their foods. I knew that our need of calories will depend on our age and our activity, but at that time, I did not know the range.

After doing some quick research, now I understand that we need to be able to estimate how many calories that we need per day, based on our age, gender and level of physical activity.

In general, how many calories that you need per day, can be described very simple as follows:

For male

If you are an active 30-year-old man, you need 3000 calories per day

If you are a sedentary 52-year-old man, you need 2000 calories per day

For female

If you are an active 25-year-old woman, you need 2400 calories per day

If you are a sedentary 55-year-old woman, you need 1600 calories per day

Active means that everyday you do activity which is equivalent to walking more than 3 miles per day at 3 to 4 miles per hour.

Sedentary means that you have a lifestyle that includes only light physical activity associate with typical day-to-day life.

It is not very detail, but for sure it would be able to help us understand how many calories that we should have per day.
