Aging Can Be Speed Up by Over-consumption of Sugar

My first reaction when I read a journal result that says that over-consumption of sugar linked to aging is “Wow, my lifestyle is not so good and I have to change it”. I drink tea with a lot of sugar, eat many donuts and other cookies which are very very sweet.I don’t have any complain right now about my health, but hey, I still need to be healthy since I still have a long journey and so many things to achieve.

The article talks about how sugar intake really influence the lifespan. It is proven by a research using the animals in the laboratory. Furthermore, a study published in the journal PLoS Genetics, has revealed that it’s not sugar itself that speed up the aging, but the ability of cells to sense its presence. It means that even-though you feed a lot of sugar to the cell,  if it can’t feel its presence, then it’s not going to give you any aging effect.

The scientist use the yeast cell in the experiment, and they found that if they removed the gene cells for a glucose sensor from yeast cells, they lived as long as those living on a glucose-restricted diet.

The lesson learned from the journal are:

  1. Don’t put too much sugar in your body. Reduce your sugar intake by changing your habit from eating cookies and donuts to fruits and vegetables. We need sugar to produce energy in our body, but if you take it too much, remember, it can influence your aging process.
  2. It’s not the sugar that influence the aging, but it’s the ability to sense the sugar. Our body works in a magnificent way, and we don’t understand everything. We can implement this to our daily life. Always give yourself some positive comments about yourself. Never say “I can’t do that”, “I can’t afford to buy that car”, “.. but I’m not good in writing”. If you have a dream, then pursue your dream. Tell yourself that you WILL reach your dream and you WILL succeed.

From today, limit your sugar intake and appreciate yourself more.
